NYS PTA 2006 Convention
From Nov. 10-12 Rochester was the scene of
the 110th New York State PTA Convention, and WEPR was there! The
following members of our region attended: Susan Berkow, Stephanie Fehrs, Glenn
Levine, Jane Harsha, Carla Caro, Janet Del Greco, Lonnie Phillips, Chrisanne
Petrone, Nancy Barry, Barbara Augugliaro, Charlotte Cavanagh, and Leonor Volpe.
The weekend featured many excellent workshops, provocative speakers, exciting
student performances, and stimulating resolutions debates, as well as a chance
to meet special guest National PTA President Anna Weselak. Start planning
now so that you can take part in Convention 2007, Nov. 16-18 in
Albany!
Back to School Leadership
Training / Summer Social
The evening of August 29 was the time
and White Plains High School was the place as the
Westchester-East Putnam Region PTA got the 2006-2007 school
year off to a rousing start with its 3rd annual
Leadership Training/Summer Social. After getting acquainted
over a savory spread of pizza, fruit, and summer desserts,
officers and committee chairs from PTAs all over Westchester
and Putnam settled down to the serious business of learning
how to be the most efficient, effective unit or council
leaders they can be. While the rain outside was pretty
frightful, it could not dampen the spirit of PTA!
A hearty thank-you goes to the WEPR
officers who organized and led the various workshops: for
Presidents, V.P.’s, and Secretaries--Glenn Levine and
Roseann Smith; for Council presidents--Doris Hautle and Dana
Levenberg; for Treasurers/Fundraising--Pam Perricone and
Carole Simonetti; for Membership--Ann Moorehouse; and for
Bylaws--Jina Accardo.
Many thanks also to the many other WEP
region board members who took charge of the registration,
refreshments, publicity, printing, and other logistical
tasks without which an event like this would be impossible.
Warm thanks also to Joe Corbi’s fundraising consultant
Eileen Camarinos for providing freshly baked pizza and
cookies to sustain us, and a very special thanks to the
members of the White Plains HS for their time and energy in
setting up for this event. It was an evening not to be
missed.
